Course Overview:

This program outlines the process of designing, constructing, and maintaining atmospheric storage tanks located at ground level along with API standards like API-650, API-653 and API-620.

They will also learn about the factors controlling the design process such as loadings wind, seismic, and pressure, material selection and shell design methods. In other words, they will have to work with design and metal basic issues.

Furthermore, the course covers inspection processes and welding techniques, and further non-destructive evaluation techniques that are essential for the integrity of the tank and other necessary records that are called for by these standards.

This course is designed for those who deal with the construction, inspection, and maintenance of the tanks: engineers, inspectors, operators. So also, the course provides students, with practical skills needed in shell design, roof and nozzle design including solving problems and calculations.

Course Objectives:

By the end of this course delegates will be able to:

  • Determine if internal corrosion exists by evaluating a set of criteria to identify and apply monitoring techniques such as:

Gain an understanding of the design and maintenance requirements of aboveground atmospheric storage tanks in accordance with API-650, API-653, and API-620 respectively

Determine when mitigation is required and the appropriate mitigation methods to utilize including maintenance pigging, physical design changes, and operational modifications

Who Should Attend?

Engineers, inspectors, technologists, and experienced operators with technology backgrounds who are involved in the construction, inspection, maintenance and repairs of tanks for safe operations in the plant.
