Course Overview:

This course is designed for participants who wish to develop an understanding on managing internal corrosion control for pipeline systems.

Core goals include discrimination of corrosion types, the correlation with environmental factors contributing to corrosion, and the employment of such corrosion monitoring methods as gas, liquid and sludge/solid sample analysis, corrosion coupons and electrical probes.

It also encompasses an explanation of the methodology for the analysis of the origin of corrosion, the means of managing corrosion including internal corrosion direct assessment (ICDA) and hydrostatic testing, and the appropriate corrosion control measures.

Participants will be trained for chemical treatments, maintenance measures, internal coatings, cathodic protection for tanks and engineering aspects of the facility. Perfect for professionals working with implementation, maintenance and engineering of internal corrosion control programs..

Course Objectives:

Upon the successful completion of this course, the participants should be able to:

  • Identify the types of corrosion, influencing key environmental variables, and methods to control corrosion.
  • Monitor corrosion through devices and tests, including analysis of gas, liquid and sludge/solid samples, coupons, and electrical probes ü Examine exposed surfaces and be able to determine the root cause of corrosion
  • Perform integrity assessment methods including internal corrosion direct assessment, in-line inspection, and hydrostatic testing
  • Proper selection of mitigation methods such as:
  • Chemical treatment by biocides and corrosion inhibitors
  • Facilities maintenance including the use of pigs, clearing drips, and clearing valves
  • Internal coatings
  • Cathodic protection only for internal protection of tanks
  • Facility design considerations

Determine when mitigation is required and the appropriate mitigation methods to utilize including maintenance pigging, physical design changes, and operational modifications

Who Should Attend?

Individuals responsible for the management of internal corrosion control program for pipeline systems including:

  • Implementation
  • Maintenance
  • Engineering

Course Outlines:FN Diving performs the following underwater NDT Inspection methods when needed with Diver Technicians holding CSWIP 3.1 up to 3.4.

  • The program covers all the essential knowledge and understanding, and problem-solving skills, needed by newly appointed engineers/technologists with responsibilities in the field of metallic materials technology. A solid understanding of the principles underpinning the use of metallic materials in industrial applications will be given. There will be group discussions on case studies involving the failure of metallic components and the emphasis will be on understanding why failures happen and how they can be avoided. All participants will return to their organizations with a developed Action Plan to implement their learning from the program into their daily routine at work.
