Course Overview

This advanced technical training program equips safety professionals with design, operation, and maintenance expertise for industrial fire/gas detection systems and flaring operations. The course covers NFPA, API, IEC, and OSHA standards with hands-on analysis of detection technologies, safety integrity levels (SIL), and flare system optimization. Participants will learn through HAZOP studies, system simulations, and real incident case studies to enhance facility safety.

Course Objectives

By the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
✔ Design fire & gas detection systems per NFPA 72, IEC 60079, API 505
✔ Select/position detectors (IR/UV, catalytic, ultrasonic, O2/H2S)
✔ Conduct SIL assessments for safety instrumented functions (SIFs)
✔ Optimize flare systems (API 537) for emissions/compliance
✔ Troubleshoot false alarms/underperformance in detection systems
✔ Implement emergency shutdown (ESD) logic for fire/gas scenarios
✔ Analyze flare radiation/dispersion modeling (PHAST, FLARESIM)
